Here are some of the examples of how our store owners are committed to the practice of sustainability.
Eco Bag Competition
Every year Northpoint Shopping Centre runs the Eco bag competition, whereby local children are asked to submit a design which may be chosen to be printed on reusable canvas bags.
The initiative is very popular and has trifold benefit in that it engages our local community, especially the younger members, leads to an environmentally beneficial outcome and creates engagement between the Centre and community.
The bags are always warmly received across the community and can be seen in use within the Centre.
Pure Hair
Pure Hair joined the Centre in 2021 and became Queensland’s first accredited regional sustainable salon. Impressively, the salon recycles up to 95% of the waste produced in the salon as well as accepting returned empty salon product packages, the recycled waste will contribute to initiatives such as buying meals for OzHarvest, creation of outdoor furniture from recycled shampoo and conditioner bottles and creating hair booms to mop up oil spills in the ocean.
